A native of Illinois, Mark Gruszecki lived in Atlanta, Georgia, for 13 years before moving to Jacksonville about eight years ago. He studied marketing and sports medicine at Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he obtained his clinical certification in sports medicine from the American College of Sports Medicine at Georgia State in 1993. He also studied with the American Banking Institute in Chicago, and recently earned his certification as an Advanced Business Credit Analyst from (NADCO) National Association of Development Companies and has attended a number of their other training programs ans well as attending the Small Business Administrations Lender Training Program, to include SBA 504 and 7a loans. Mark was nominated as Financial Advocate for the fiscal year 2000-2001 by University Of North Florida.
Closer to home, Mark served as President of the sussessful Business Development Corporation of Northeast Florida (BDC), a division of the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council and an SBA approved Certified Development Company. Marks responsibilities covered 10 Northeast Florida Counties. Mark then joined the Jacksonville Economic Development Company (JEDCO) as its President and CEO—joining JEDCO was a challenging move as this was JEDCO’s first experience as a private organization after being tied into local government of almost 22 years. With only one county to focus on, an enormous supply of built-in customers and little to no red tape, Mark found himself and JEDCO in an optimal position. JEDCO has funded over $214 million of small business loans and help in the creation of over 4,000 jobs.
Mark’s area of expertise is the Small Business Administration (SBA) programs, which makes available to the small business owner a fix rate, long term financing tool. With new determination it is Mark’s vision and Mission, to also explore and implement other loan programs which can be made available to the business owner. Mark now want’s to serve business directly with his own private commercial and residential firm. He knows almost all the local and national lenders and has built a favorable reputation for himself with lenders as well as the business owners he has had the opportunity to work for.
Mark’s mission is to foster economic vitality in the State of Florida, concentrating his efforts in the North East sector.
Most recently, Mark received the National Leadership Award by Congressman Tom Delay in Washington, D.C. In addition to that prestigious award came the appointment to the Business Advisory Council as Co-Chairman.
